{name:Todd#|#picture:3}As Champ and Tommy followed along my heals, something didn't feel right. I mean, was it wrong to just ignore her? Poor Ollie, it must suck having to tag along with her sister everywhere. "Guys, you can go along without me. I forgot my hat on the beach." I told them, which wasn't a lie. They nodded, and I glanced over at Jess. She didn't let go of my hand, and I gave her a weak smile. "I'll call you, okay?" I asked, and she sighed heavily, dropping my hand back to my side. "Come on Tommy, lets go back." I told him. He screamed, and ran towards his new friends. I walked along the beach, the sand cool, and clouds starting to come in over the Golden Gate Bridge. I let my shirt hang over my shoulder, and I was caring Champ in my arms now. "Hey, Ollie!" I called, after I picked up my hat. She turned around, and sort of frowned. I jogged up to her, and gave her my most sincer smile. "Hey," I said, and she just stared at the ground. "Look, I'm really sorry for being oblivious back there. I just.... you know," I said, blushing. Champ started licking my face, and I laughed. I heard some screaming, as I saw Tommy and his friend tickling each other. "Looks like they're going to have to have some play dates." I smiled, and Ollie nodded weakly. "Maybe we can hang out some time too? You know, as friends?" I squeaked, my voice cracking.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}The three of us had been slowly across the beach. As soon as we'd gotten out of earshot of Todd, Jess and Nick, I'd shouted at Lia and had told her to stop being such a spoilt, rude brat. I'd made her cry, but I was past caring. Odie had cried too, just because I was shouting and, after that, the two of them had walked ahead, not wanting to walk with me. I'd felt like crying myself then, watching both of my sisters take sides against me. 'Hey, Ollie!' came a cry and, turning around, I saw Todd. I frowned slightly, unable to figure out what he'd want from me. 'Hey.' I said nothing and instead looked down at the sand. 'Look, I'm really sorry for being oblivious back there. I just.... you know.' Tommy was still with him and Odie instantly came running over to greet him. The two of them got into a tickling fight and started screaming at the top of their lungs, making Todd say that they were going to have to have some play dates. Maybe it was supposed to make me laugh, or maybe he was being friendly. I don't know, but I didn't find it remotely funny anyway. 'Maybe we can hang out some time too? You know, as friends?' I merely shrugged. Did I want to hang out with Todd? Did I want to become friends with him? They weren't exactly the most friendly bunch I'd met, him and his friends, but they were the only kids my age whom I'd met. I guessed I just had to take a few chances. 'Sure,' I said, shrugging again and acting as though I didn't really mind whether we did or not.

{name:Todd#|#picture:3}I turned around, to see that Jess and Nick had dissapeared, and I looked down at the sand quickly. "Sure," Ollie said in a non-nonchalant way, and I smiled. "Or we don't have to. What school are you going to?" I asked her, and she just mumbled a "Brookfield." "Hey, me too! Maybe we'll have some classes together? You never know." I smirked, and she just turned around to check on her sisters. She didn't really say anything to me, and I sighed. "Listen, I understand if you don't want to talk to me." I told her, and she just sighed. "Yeah, well, it was a little rude..." she mumbled, and I smiled. "See, that's all you had to say! I'm really sorry." I said again, as Ollie started picking her finger. I saw that our siblings were still rolling around on the ground, and getting close to the shore. I jogged over to them, and scooped them up quickly. I went back, and gave Ollie her sister back. "So, what's your number? So I can call you?" I asked. Ollie took a pen out of her bag, and wrote her number on my hand. "Great." I said, as I took Tommy's hand, and pulled him onto my shoulders. I also held Champ in my arms. "I'll be seeing you around." She said the same. I watched as she started walking off towards the west side of the beach, and I turned to go towards the East. After I saw her vanish, I smiled down at Tommy, and told him we'd go get smoothies. He cheered, and we left.
