{name:Matt#|#picture:2}I was searching through radio stations when I heard the wooden door slam shut. My head snapped up, unvolentarily. I smiled as Brooke walked toward the truck, shaking her head. She looked so perfect. As she opened the black door, a waft of vanilla perfume waved through the car. I took in the sweet sent as she sat back in the tan leather seat. 'I see your still driving you're truck.' Brooke smiled. 'I see you're still wearing my perfume.' I shot back playfully. 'I see you're still gay.' There was a moment of silence as I stared into her eyes. We suddenly began cracking up. I pulled the car out, still laughing. I loved being with her. I turned the radio down, so it was in the background. 'So what have you been up to?' I asked once the laughter subsided. 'Eh. Nothing really. Life's been kind of boring.' She shrugged. 'Yeah, without me.' I smiled. She shoved my arm and giggled. 'How's your mom?' I asked, stealing a glance at her expression. Her nose scrunched up then calmed back to perfection and she rolled her eyes. 'Lets just say she hasn't changed...at all.' I could hear the hate in her voice. I knew how much she despised her mother's drinking problem. 'It's okay Brookie, you know I'm always here for you.' I rubbed her arm, remebering all the times she stayed at my house to get away from her mother. 'I know.' Her voice lost the edge and became angelic again. I noticed my arm was still extended as my hand rested on her shoulder. I removed it reluctently, hoping I wasn't making it akward. We talked for the rest of the ride casually, as if nothing had changed in the last year. ---- As we pulled up to the bar, we were laughing about a story she told me. I was so comfortable. Being with Brooke came as natural as breathing. I got out first and jogged over the the passenger side. I went to open the door for Brooke, but she beat me to it. 'I got it.' She smiled. I put my hand on my heart, pretending to be offended. 'Fine then.' I faked a sniffle as Brooke began laughing. I put my arm around her waist and pulled her to my hip, taking in her sweet sent. We walked into the restaruant as I told the hostess we wanted to sit at the bar. As we were walking, I leaned my head down so my mouth was by Brooke's ear. 'I love you.' I whispered. The joy of being with her was overwhelming. I straighted my neck as we neared the bar. I motioned to two seats, as Brooke sat down. I sat next to her as the bartender walked over to us. He was a short man with dark hair and a mustache to match. 'What can I get for you two?' He asked with a grumbly voice. 'A glass of Coke and a virgin strawberry daquiri.' I said almost robotically. I had remebered that Brooke didn't drink and that strawberry daquiris were her favorite. As the bartender walked away I looked at Brooke, smiling. 'This is nice Brookie. I missed you.' I said smoothly. And it was the complete truth. It felt like my life was complete with her here.

{name:Brooke#|#picture:0}Being in a car with Matt, had made me completly Nervous, but I relaxed myself after I realized that his arm had somewhat found its way around my shoulders. I wanted to smile, but I couldn't, because I was speechless at that moment. Being near Matt period made me feel somewhat safe and protected. I no longer felt endangered, or harmed, I felt as I always wood when I was with him; Happy.------ As we were walking over to the bar, and I felt Matt lean down to whisper; I love you. My legs quivered and my knees wobbled. My heart pounded against my chest, wanting to escape. I balled my fists and clenched my jaw, but then suddenly relaxed when I heard Matt order my favorite non-alcoholic beverage. "This is nice Brookie. I missed you." Matt said smoothly, as the bartender walked away. I smiled at him. "I have to admit. I actually missed you too." He pouted at me, and rested his hand on the counter. "Aw. Shucks." "Don't flatter yourself Matt." I giggled, flipping my hair. He shrugged and tossed me one of his famous grins. "Ive missed that." "Missed what?" I said, raising a brow, curiously. "Your smile Brooke. It makes me so happy to know that your doing alright with everything thats happening." I nodded. "Thanks. Its been awhile since Ive actually been out to get drinks with a friend period." When our drinks finally arrived I smiled and before taking a sip I looked over at Matt. "If this is as good as I remember, you have to take me out again." I said, biting down on my lip. Mike's eyes twinkled at my words, I smirked and raised my brow at him. "So.. How have you been since.- Well How's it been?" I stuttered, taking a long sip. "Bad." He said softly. Our eyes met at once, I melted as he gazed at me. "Why's that?" I whispered. "Because your were gone." "Matt.." I warned him, as he was setting me off now. "Brooke. We never talked about it." I shook my head, and slammed my hand on the table. "Is this why you brought me here? Is this some sort of intervention Matt? I thought we were just here to have some fun, and relax and get away from that awful past." "So our past together was awful?" He said, with a smirk. I took a deep breathe. "No it wasn't Matt. It was amazing and you know that, but .. I wanna' start over okay Matt. Everyday now for the past month Ive been thinking about you, and I just wanna' start over, I wanna' take back the moment from when you proposed to me, and I said no. I wanna' go back to when we were just together and happy, but I don't know how to anymore Matt.." I whispered to him.

{name:Matt#|#picture:2}I listened to Brooke's words carefully, examining each with careful presion. I took a long, deep breath, preparing to say something; anything. 'Brooke. I know what you mean about our past and I would love for things to go back to the way they were.' I began, putting emphasis on the word 'love'. 'I feel the same way.' I gazed into her deep brown, lovely shaped eyes. 'But before we can go back to that we have to confront our past. Things will never be the same if there are unsaid words.' I said slowly, not wanting to set her off. 'I love you and I know, more or less hope, that you love me too.' I gulped at the thought of an empty love. 'We can go back to that, it may take some time, but it will. I promise.' Brooke nodded slowly and took a sip of her drink. 'How long do you think it will take?' She asked, smirking. I laughed as the mood lightened. 'As long as we want.' I took the first sip from my icy glass. An idea sparked into my mind. I pushed it to the back of my mind as I decided to ask her after our date. Something Brooke said popped into my head, 'And we can start over.' I said smiling. I stuck my hand out in her direction. 'Hey. I'm Matt.' I said laughing as Brooke grabbed my hand. 'Brooke.' She said softly. I wanted to let go of her hand but I couldn't, it was like some magnetic force I couldn't deny. I laced my fingers through hers and set our conjoined palms on the counter. I looked over to see her smiling, blushing ever-so-slightly. I pulled our hands off the counter and stroked her cheek with my knuckles. 'That's another thing I've missed.' I said quietly. 'What?' Brooke asked setting our hands back onto the counter. 'The way you turn the cutest shade of pink.' I half-smiled as the pink color appeared on her face again. I chuckled as I took my drink with my free hand, not taking my eyes off of Brooke's. One word could describe them; mesmorizing. 'I can't believe how much I've missed you. Brooke, I honestly never thought I could miss anything that much, even if it was my own life.' I confessed.

{name:Brooke#|#picture:0}I loved the feel of Matt's rough large hand entwined in mine. My heart fluttered at the touch of his knuckles brushing the side of my face. "God Matt. I've missed you so much to" I whispered to him, as I gazed into his electric brown eyes. "I don't know how I ever let you go Matt." I said, looking away from his suddenly fixed gaze. "Sometimes I blame myself. Sometimes I wish I had said yes, but I was also right to say no because Matt.. What you did was just so unexpected, it was so-" "Brooke." He said to me. "No Matt. I wanted so badly to spend the rest of my life with you, but Matt..I just- I couldn't Matt, and don't think Its cause I didn't love you, because I did.." "Brooke-" "And I still do.." I whispered in his ear, kissing his cheek. He sat there staring at me, for what felt like ever. "Say something Matt." I said cautiously, afraid. "Brooke. Ive always loved you, always will." As we sat there for what felt like eternity, gazing into each others eyes, I shook my head with a smug grin. "What?" Matt said, as he kissed my knuckles lightly. "I'm just thinking." I said vaguely, looking away from Matt, and unlacing our fingers. "About?" He said, as I felt his hand slip around my waist. I rested my head on his shoulder, as I reached over for my drink, and took a long sip. "How stupid I am." "Brooke Sawyer Stupid? Never." Matt laughed. I slapped his arm and pouted at him. "Matt.. Do you ever wonder what our life would be like if I had said yes?" I asked him suddenly.

{name:Matt#|#picture:2}I felt an electric shock shake through my body as Brooke kissed me on the cheek. I took a deep breath as she asked if I thought about our life if she'd excepted my proposal. 'Yes. I do.' I said, resting my head in her hair. 'But I'm not mad at you for saying 'no'." I squinted my eyes as I felt Brooke nod once. 'I love you Brooke, as if you didn't know.' I laughed, 'I'd wait a life-time for you to be ready for marriage.' I concluded, pulling my face away. I cupped her face in my hands, looking into her eyes. 'The only thing you have to say is that you're not ready and I won't do anything extreme.' I kissed her lightly on the tip of her perfect nose. 'What about you?' I asked letting my hands wander back to her waist. 'Do you ever think about our life if you'd said yes?' I asked tilting my head. This time, she took the deep breath and closed her eyes. 'Yeah.' Brooke confessed. 'Sometimes.' She cracked a slight smile and took another sip of her drink. She rested her head back onto my shoulder. 'I love you Matty.' She said, her voice muffle by my broad shoulder. I stroked her chocolate, straight hair and kissed her head. 'I love you too Brookie.' I lost count of how many times I'd said that to her, but I could say it a million more times and it wouldn't mean any less.

{name:Brooke#|#picture:0}"I planned our wedding Matt." I whispered to him, lifting my head and looking into his glorious mesmerizing eyes. "What?" He said, baffled. "I.- I planned our wedding Matt. I planned- it the day after you proposed, the day after I said no." "Brooke.." Matt said His eyes wide. "I already found a florist.. A Caterer, a DJ, an a church Matt.. I was so upset with myself the day after, that I put myself to work, to see if I had what It took to be a wife. " I said to him. "Even a mother." I whispered my last words to him. "And in the end of planning it all. I realized what a mistake I made, because Matt I would have loved to spend the rest of my life with you, but I just couldn't." "Why Brooke?" "Why what Matt?" I said, suddenly angrily. "Why couldn't you spend the rest of your life with me? What's holding you back, if you want to." I shook my head and then stormed up from the bar stool, almost knocking it into a stranger passing by. I held back the tears, and choked back the sobs, as I headed right for the door. I pushed it open and stood outside, in the fresh cool air. I took slow deep breathes, to control my anxiety. I paced back and fourth, and took slower breathes, as I felt myself calm down. I rubbed my shoulders, and looked up at the night sky. "Breathe Brooke." "Matt." I said, letting the wind capture my words. "What's holding you back Brooke?" I shook my head and bit my lip. I felt Matt stand behind me, his body slightly pressed against my back. I melted at the touch of his hand at my waist, the touch of his hand entwined with me, and especially the touch of his lips, at the top of my head. "Matt." I whispered, burning under his touch. "Don't." ""Brookie. You know you can tell me anything." I gritted my teeth, and snatched my hand away from him, and turned to look away from him. "Take me home Matt." "Brooke. I'm not leaving until we talk about this. Please. I just want a hint Brooke-" "A hint for what Matt!?" I snapped "I want a hint Brooke. I wanna' know if there's still a chance for us Brooke Please!" He said, approaching me. I shook my head and bit my lip. "Move Matt. Please." I said hoarsely. He took one step back. "Brooke. I love you. Just tell me why." The tears streamed down my cheeks at once, and at that moment, I had become so weak. I quickly turned and ran down the parking lot, and towards Matt's truck. I felt Matt running after me, and suddenly he took my arm into his strong hand, lightly, and turned me around, and pressed my back against his truck; Then he kissed me.

{name:Matt#|#picture:2}I ran after Brooke, baffled about why she was suddenly acting like this. I loved the fact that she planned our wedding. It was Brooke. I was curious at why we couldn't live the life we both wanted so badly. Once I caught up with her by the car, I couldn't help myself. I crushed my lips into hers as I pushed her back into the black metal. At first I could feel Brooke resisting, trying to stop herself. I think she may have even smacked my shoulder once or twice. I was about to give in, give up, when I felt her lips press into mine. Our lips melded together as I felt a feeling I hadn't in what seemed like forever. A shockingly familar sensation rushed through my vains. Passion. Love. Comfort. Brooke. After a while, I pulled back, gasping for air. One of my hands found it's way to the small of her back as the other rested on the back of her head. I caught my breathe and began kissing along the line of her jaw. It was so unexplainably amazing how she was back. 'Matt. Please.' She whispered into my golden hair. 'I love you Brooke.' I whispered into her ear, softly. The same way I had when we were together. I pulled my head back up so my eyes were meeting hers. I cupped her head in my hands and kissed her again. The same feeling pulsed through me as I held her waist, pulling her closer to me. This time, there was no resistance. 'Brooke.' I began as she kissed my cheek. 'Yes.' She whispered angelicly between kisses. 'Would you come with me?' I asked as I felt her face stop centimeters from mine. Her breath tickled my cheek. 'Where?' She breathed, shortly. Her voice was flat. I rested my forehead against hers, looking into her dark eyes. Her eyes looked serious. On the verge of angry. 'Calm down. Please.' I tried to comfort her by rubbing her back. 'Where.' She repeated, this time it wasn't a question. 'Remeber those day trips we used to take? Up to Rhode Island? We would spend the whole day at the beach and then go out to eat?' I asked. Brooke nodded, the lovelyness returning to her eyes. 'Well...I thought maybe we could go back up there. Like tomorrow.' I said, biting my lip. 'Stop that.' Brooke giggled kissing my lightly. 'Is that a yes?' I asked. I kissed her back before she could answer. She nodded excitedly. 'I love you so much.' I laughed. 'We'll leave really early so we get there in the morning.' I planned as she nodded along. I couldn't believe I was going to the beach with Brooke like we did before she left. It was just like old times.

{name:Brooke#|#picture:0} Kissing Matt. Kissing Matt. Kissing Matt. Kissing Matt. Kissing Matt. Kissing Matt. Kissing Matt. That's all that ran though my head as I sat in the passenger seat of Matt's truck. My cheeks burnt crimson red, at the thought of Matt's lips pressed against my own. At first when he had kissed, me I had wanted to shove him away and slap him, because the last guy to kiss me had been Elliot. I pushed the thought of Elliot to the back of my head, and gritted my teeth, clenching my jaw. "You okay?" Matt said, suddenly worried, as he kept his hands on the wheel. We waited under a red light. I shook my head and bit down on my bottom lip. "I'm- fine." I stuttered. Matt raised a brow at me. "Brooke. Your the worse liar I've ever known." I gasped. "What!?" "Brooke. I never told you this, but your a horrible liar." "How so?" "I'm.. F-fine.." Matt mocked me in my girlish voice. I slapped his arm and scoffed. "I'm not a bad liar Matt." "There you go lying again. You know you suck at lying." I laughed, and bit down on my lip. "Stop that." He warned me. "Okay." "That's a Lie Brooke." - - - - "God Matt. Your so corny." I said as we stood under the porch at my door. "How?" He chuckled, pulling me to him. "Walking me to my door. This reminds of our Prom night. Except your not wearing a tux." He chuckled. "Oh that night was fun. I taught you how to dance the night before." "I taught myself."; I bite my tongue."Lie." "Thank you for today Matt. I cant wait for tomorrow." I whispered in his ear, standing on my tip-toes to kiss his forehead. He nodded, and kissed my knuckles. "I love you Brooke Sawyer." I caught my breathe in my throat and shook my head. "I know Matt."He smiled, and leaned down. I smiled, and bit my lip. "Stop that." Before Matt could press his lips against mine, the door behind me flew open. "Well if it isn't Matt Hastings." Her voice said. "Mom." I whispered, turning to look at her. She wagged her finger warily, and let out a troubled sigh. I smelt the whiskey in her breath. "Whiskey mom?" "Shut up." She snapped at me, than turned to look at Matt. Her eyes were bloodshot, and she looked so weak, and tired. "How..- Ya' been Matt?" She slurred, burping slightly. "Mom. Go back inside please." I said under my breathe. She pushed me aside, and poked Matt in the chest. "Its been.. how long- Two years now Matt?" He shook his head, and gulped. His Adams apple bobbing. "How are you Mrs. Sawyer?" "I was.. Doing- Great without you in My daughters life." "Mom!" I said, shaking my head, angrily. My nostrils flared, and my breathe came in short. "Mrs. Sawyer.." Matt said, shocked. "Its nice to see you again." He suddenly added. "Get the hell- away from my daughter. Don't.. you even dare coming back here- Because If I'm.. not mistaken- She said no to your proposal, like I told her to." "Matt Leave." "What?" He said, confused. "Brooke. Is that true?-" "Get out of here Matt." I said, grabbing my mothers arm, and pulling her inside the house. "Brooke!" Matt said, "Get the hell out of here Matt!" I warned him, as I slammed the door in his face. - - - - "What the hell is your problem?" I yelled, once the door was slammed. "Don't use- That tone with me!" She slurred, drunkenly. "Do you know how much I despise looking at you right now. Why did you say that to Matt Mom!?" "Oh.- So you never told him.. Why you said no.." "You said No. I said yes." "Then why aren't you married?" "What's going on down here?" My dad said. "Shut up Brian!" My mother snapped. "Quit butting into my life Mom." I warned her, turning my back, nearing the stairs. "Or what Brooke? You'll cut me off? You'll dump more of my alcohol out?" "I'll leave you Mom, and I mean it. The only reason I'm here now, is because of dad." "And..?" I gulped; "And because you asked for my help, I said no to Matt to focus on my family Mom, and I'm trying." "Pshh." She scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Brooke!" My dad said, behind me. "What happened." "If you want my help Mom, you need to earn it." I snapped, pushing past my father. "What did you do now Sara?" I heard my dad say to her, as I climbed the stairs. "Don't look at me Brian.-" She slurred, burping at the end of that sentence. "Your daughter is so stubborn!" "Heredity Is a powerful Thing Sara." "Fuck you Brian." I stormed down the stairs at once, and pushed past my father, and looked at my drunken mother. I raised my hand to slap her, but my father pulled me back. "I hate you!" I cried aloud, kicking and screaming. "Brooke Stop it!" He said, walking backwards, pulling me away from her. "I hate myself to Brooke!" She suddenly said, "Don't you think everyday I look in the mirror, I see someone hideous! I'm trying Brooke, but I don't know how to stop!" I spat at the floor, and my father finally let go of me. "I hate you."_____

{name:Matt#|#picture:2}I stood outside Brooke's door for a few more minutes, taking in what just happened. I tried to be as nice as I could to her mom. I took a deep breathe. It wasn't Brooke. We weren't moving to fast. It was her mom. I slowly made my way down the porch steps walking to my truck. It was her mom. I couldn't get that thought out of my head. All this time I was beating myself up over the fact that I drove Brooke away. It felt like pounds had been lifted off of my shoulders knowing I hadn't scared her off. A million questions bounced into my head. I couldn't wait until tomorrow. ----- Beep. Beep. Beep. The alarm buzzed as I groaned, my hand searching for the 'Snooze' button. As soon as my mind was functioning, memories flooded my mind. Today I was going to Rhode Island with Brooke. I jumped out of bed, glancing at the clock. 5:30. I threw on a pair of faded jean shorts and a dark blue T-shirt. I flew into the bathroom. I grabbed my toothbrush as I began to hum a random tune. I forced the toothpaste out of the container as I turned the water faucet on. After brushing my teeth, I ran downstairs and grabbed a baseball cap. 'Hat - check. Sun lotion, cell phone...' I went through the mental list, snatching the items as I said them. After the black bag was filled with everything I needed, I took my sunglasses off the counter and left the house. I locked the door and set my glasses on top of the bill of my white cap. I unlocked the door and threw the bag into the back as I settled in. Sticking the key in the ignition I couldn't stop thinking about Brooke. I pulled up to her house around 6:15. It looked like everyone was still asleep, a good sign. I climbed the big oak tree that leaned toward Brooke's room. After I was high enough, I tapped on the window. Sure enough Brooke walked out of the bathroom, dressed and all. She looked perfect. I took a deep breathe as she opened the window. I was carefully perched on a strong branch, probably looking like Spider-Man. 'Matt!' She said in a hushed whisper, 'Get in here!' I shrugged and climbed in the window. Once securly inside, I pulled Brooke close to my body kissing her. 'Morning.' I whispered. 'Morning.' She smiled 'Are you ready?' I asked looking for her stuff. 'Yup.' Brooke looked proud that she had all her stuff ready. 'Lets go then!' I beamed opening the window. Brooke waved her hand and closed the window. 'No no no. We're leaving like civilized people, not cavemen.' I laughed as I opened her bedroom door. We crept around her mother's room and downstairs where we made a run for the door. Once we were outside, Brooke turned around and stood on her tippy toes, kissing me. 'What was that for?' I asked happily. 'I dunno.' She smiled and headed for the truck. I smiled to myself as I jumped into the driver's seat. 'Off we go.' I said, starting up the car. Excietment filled me as we drove down the street, ready to spend the whole day together. Just Brookie and me.

{name:Brooke#|#picture:0}"Guess what I brought." I said to Matt, as we drove along the road in silence. "Finally." "What?" I said, a bit confused. "You've been quiet the whole ride. I was starting to worry." I smiled. "Just got alot on my mind, but don't side Track me Matt, answer my .. guess." I giggled. "Your guess? Um.. Your camera." I pouted. "You know me to well." Matt chuckled. "Ive known you for how long now.." I shrugged, and rested my head on the window, and looked down at the camera in my lap. I pressed my hand against my temples, and took slow deep breathes, and relaxed my muscles. I had suddenly become so tense and worried. "You okay?" "Fine." I said, looking over at Matt. He nodded, and kept his eyes on the road. I watched him with steady eyes, making sure to capture this moment, I pulled up my camera, and adjusted the lens, and watched Matt through the camera Lens. I watched his steady eyes, and the way his strong hands gripped the wheel of the car, and the way he checked more than once, when he turned into the next lane, but most importantly, I watched his facial structures. His wide but beautiful eyes, his thin luscious lips, and his cute, but adorable crooked nose. So many flaws he had, but all were beauty to me. Click. He jumped at the slight flash. "Brooke!" "You cut your hair." I said suddenly, reaching over and touching the top of his head. "You just noticed?" I nodded. "Its nice, but now I cant pull on your hair when your annoying me." He chuckled. "I hated when you did that." "I had damn good reason to." I giggle Matt shakes his head. "Not really. "Pshh. Whatever." I scoffed. "Brooke-" Matt suddenly said, causing me to jump. "Damn it Matt." I grumbled, moving the camera away from my face. "What were you doing?" He chuckled. "Trying to catch this great picture." He shook his head, and opened the door for me, and reached out for me. I slapped his hand away and jumped out, and grabbed my beach bag. "You suck." I whispered in his ear, passing by him. I suddenly dropped my camera in shock, realizing where we were. "Matt." I said, speechless. "It looks..- so different."

{name:Matt#|#picture:2}I laughed as Brooke whispered 'You suck.' in my ear. I turned around to see Brooke's shocked face. 'Yeah. It's been through some changes in the last few months.' I said looking around at the beach. The waves rolled gently against the white sand, the palm trees blowing in the breeze.
I placed a hand of the small of her back. Brooke stood frozen looking out at the almost clear blue. I put a small amount of pressure on her back, in an attempt to move her. 'Let's go.' I said in her ear. She flinched a little and then complied. We walked along, the cool sand running into my sandals. We stopped below a palm tree's shade, the ocean a couple of yards from us. I set down our bags and flipped off my shoes as Brooke followed. I wiggled my toes in the sand as Brooke snapped a few pictures of the ocean. She was about to take another picture when I jumped infront of the lens, sticking out my tounge. Click. Brooke jumped backwards and slapped my arm. 'This is one of those times when I would pull your hair.' She narrowed her eyes, shaking her head. I could see a faint smile pulling the corners of her lips up. 'Go for it.' I laughed, pulling my chin to my neck and shaking my head. She laughed, trying to pull my hair. I lifted my head up, Brooke's face inches from mine. 'Thank you.'She almost whispered, looking into my eyes. 'For what?' I asked as I slipped my hands around her tiny waist. 'Taking me here. It's been forever since I've been here.' I caught her stealing glances every now and then at my lips. I took that as a sign and kissed her lightly. I pulled away sitting down in the shaded sand. She sat down right next to me and she rested her head on my shoulder. 'So you wanna go in the water?' I asked looking down at her. 'I'm hardly dressed for it.' Brooke laughed motioning to her kahki shorts and graphic tee. 'Well go knee deep.' I compromised, 'And if we go any higher I'll carry you.' I smiled as I stood up. 'Okay fine.' She said standing up.
I took her hand and began toward the water. 'Remeber the last time we came here?' I asked as the memories flooded back. It was the day I proposed, we came here in the morning and then we went out for a fancy dinner. I figured that Brooke remebered to when she didn't say anything. 'Can I ask you something?' 'Yeah anything.' She said as she dipped her toe into the cool ocean. 'Don't get mad, please. Last night that thing your mom said. Is that true?' Brooke sighed as I anitcapted the answer.

{name:Brooke#|#picture:0}My heart pounded against my chest, as Matt spoke. 'Don't get mad, please. Last night that thing your mom said. Is that true?' Matt asked, curiosity in his voice. I sighed, and walked back over under the palm tree. I sat down on the blanket, and pulled my knees up to my chest, and pressed my palm to my head. "I thought we were here to have fun Matt, and forget about all the other stuff." "Brooke. We need to talk about this. If not now, then when Brooke? I'm going to keep asking and you know it." My eye brows narrowed and I gritted my teeth at Matt, who had came and sat next to me. I pulled a strand of his hair. "Stop it Please." "Brooke. Is it true?" He whispered. "My mothers a sick person Matt. Shes an alcoholic. I wouldn't believe her If I were you." "Lie." "damn it!" I cursed. "You suck at lying Brooke. Just be honest with me. I wont judge you." I took a deep breathe, and tried to push these thoughts to the back of my head. "Is it true Brooke?" Matt asked me once more. "Yes!?" I blurted out. "Happy now?" His head fell and we sat in silence for the next few minutes. "Matt." I whispered out to him. "Why Brooke?" He growled, his jaw tightening. "She need me Matt. I know it sounds like a stupid decision, but I want to help my mom before marriage. I wanna' know that when I leave her, she'll be fine without me." I said to him. "I still don't understand." "Remember the day before you proposed we were talking about weddings, and how great they were, and you said. 'God Id love to get married one day." "Yea so what does this have to do with-" "I knew you were going to propose to me Matt, even my dad knew."
When I had came home the day before Matt's proposal, I was hoping to get a chance to talk to my parents, about some thinking I had done with Matt, because it was pretty obvious he wanted to marry me. I had always known that Matt and I would spend the rest of our lives together, I'd always wanted Matt to be the man standing at the altar, but once I had told my mom and dad, that I was pretty sure, Matt wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, my mother had laughed and said, "Marriage is a waste Brooke. Just look at me and your father." My dad had laughed. "I'm happy for you Brooke. Matt's a great guy. Dont compare the rest of your life to your mothers and I's, because I'm sure it'll be way better." I had smiled, and kissed his forehead. "Thank you." "Brian shut up. Brooke is only ten, she's not ready for marriage, and damn sure not with that.. Haster? Or is it.. Hastings boy." "Mom. I'm not getting married, I'm just talking to you guys, about how I'm pretty sure, that Matt's the guy I'm spending the rest of my life with, so if he was ever to propose, Id say yes Mom, and you cant stop that." Before My dad could speak, he had asked me to go back upstairs, and wait for him to come up. I'd done so, but I had stood at the stairwell, listening to there argument. "Whats your problem Sara?" "What do you mean'" She slurred. "Brooke is a baby. If that boy even dares to propose to her, I will make her life a living hell!" "You've already done that Sara. Brooke's growing up. She's going off to NYU, its about time she starts thinking of her future, and If I know Brooke, I know she's not rushing into marriage, and Matt didn't even propose to her." "So what if he hasn't. I know he is, and he's no good for her." My dad laughed. "When your not drunk, you can think this over, and its not your choice anyways Sara." "Yes it is Brian. What if Brooke makes the same mistake I did?" My dad laughed once more. "May God help you Sara." I sat down on the stairs, and watched as my dad looked shocked to see me sitting there. "Brooke." He whispered. I shook my head, and moved past him to watch my mother, who lied sprawled across the couch. "Brooke." She smiled. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't spend the rest of my life with Matt mom?" Thats when I had first saw my mother actually cry. Her face reddened, and she went pale, suddenly becoming weak. "Brooke. you cant leave me.. Who's going to be here- to help me..? Brooke.. I need you here with me.. You dont understand how I am without you.." She cried aloud. "I dont want you to rush into this either Brooke. Think about all your giving up for marriage, Its not worth it." "Bull." I said to her last few words. "Once you get married Brooke, your never coming back, and you know it to. You and Matt are gonna' move right back to California and live happily ever after, and your.. gonna Forget about me.." "I would never Mom." "Yes you would Brooke.. Thats what I did.. I forgot about my mother once I married Brian because I was so in love.. but family is more important, remember that Brooke.."
"I'm not you mom. I wont forget, because unlike you, I remember what happened the night before. I will remember my daughters age, and her birthday. I wont forget her sixteenth birthday like you did. Dont compare me to you, we are two different people! Never will I become you!" I had screamed at her, running up to my room, but the next day I had put some thought into it, and she had gotten to me, just as she always did, and since than, every night, I dream of me saying yes, instead of No, because I regret the choice I made.
"Brooke." Matt whispered, after I had told him all of this. "Dont say anything. Please.." I cried out to him, letting him take me in his arms, and kiss the top of my forehead. "You don't know how much I hate myself for believing her Matt. I cried myself to sleep every night since then, because I was so stupid." I murmured into his chest. "I love you Matt.." I said, under my breathe, hopeing he hadn't heard, but I was positive he had because his heart was racing at the speed of light.

{name:Matt#|#picture:2}'Shh... It's okay, it'll be alright Brookie.' Her confession sent my heart into turbo-speed. 'I love you too.' I stroked her hair and rubbed her back as she sobbed into my chest. I held her close to me, not wanting to ever let her go. 'No, it's not okay. That's the thing, it never will be.' Brooke sobbed. 'Everything went wrong, it's all messed up. We could have been married by now!' The thought exploded into my mind as I closed my eyes, pressing my cheek to her head. 'Nothing is ruined Brooke. Things can happen.' I said slowly. We could still get married, she can still move out, her mother can still seek help. After a while of comforting her she sat up, still perched in my lap. She let out a long sigh as I wiped the tears off her cheek. Brooke lightly touched my hand as I cleaned her smeared make-up. 'We still have eachother, love. Don't worry about the past. We're here, together, now.' I kissed her on the nose as I stood up again, taking her hand. We walked to the edge of the water in silence. Brooke stopped, biting her lip, as we came upon where the water met the sand. 'What's wrong?' I asked, searching her face for a sign. She continued to stare into the water. 'You'd save me right?' She said smiling sheepishly. 'From what?' I laughed. I put my thumb below her lower lip, pulling it from the clenches of her teeth. 'A shark.' She teased. 'Of course.' I smiled, tugging on her hand. We waded into the salty solution until it was up to our knees. I splashed her a little, remebering how much she got annoyed when I did that. This time she splashed back, soaking my shirt. 'Unfair!' I accused jokingly. 'Sorry.' Brooke pouted, faking sincerity. I walked over to her, putting one arm on the back of her knees the other on her back. I lifted her up, pulling her close to me. 'What are you doing?!' She demanded laughing. 'Payback.' I smirked. I kissed her passionatly as I felt her hands tangling together behind my neck. I couldn't explain how happy I was that Brooke was back. Maybe, after a while, things would work out the way we wanted them to.

{name:Brooke#|#picture:0}My heart pounded against my chest, as Matt Pulled me into a passionate kiss. I ran my hand along the nape of his neck, resting my left hand on his beating heart. I let out a sigh of relief, as we finally pulled away for air. "Matt.." I whispered, breathlessly. "Brooke.." He smiled, running his finger along my jaw, and kissing the top of my head. "I've missed this... and you, so much.." I admitted, taking his hand in mine, and kissing his knuckles. He smiled, and kissed my forehead, and watched my lips curl up into a smile. "I love it when you smile.." My face burnt crimson red, and I rocked back and fourth on my heel. "Why so..?" I whispered in his ear, digging my feet into the sand, beneath the water. "Because.. You have these immensely cute dimples that I cant get over." I laughed, and slapped his chest. "And you are just.. amazingly handsome." "Amazingly Handsome. Oh your a born writer." I laughed, and flashed him a smug grin. He ran his hand along my shoulder, then pulled me close to him. His eyes wandered down to my chest, "Matt!" I slapped his chest, pushing him away. "No! No!" He said, catching my wrist. "I'm looking at the necklace." I blushed, but then bit down on my lip, and looked up into Matt's breath-taking eyes. "What.. About- it?" "Its.. wow- Expensive. I've never seen you wearing this before. Did Jordan give this to you..?" I laughed. "No.." I bite my lip, and turned away from him, and looked out at the ocean. I kicked some water, and watched the droplets fall one by one. I felt Matt standing behind me, his shadow cascading mine. "Your dad?" He said, curiosity once again in his voice. "No.." I said; My voice Hoarse. "Then who?" "It doesn't Matter Matt." I whispered, looking back out at the ocean. Matt kissed the top of my head. I listened to the sound of his heavy breathing, I could feel the tension seeping off of his body, the heat, that pushed towards my own. "Brooke-" I snapped, "Elliot Gave it to me Matt!"
