{name:Todd#|#picture:3}As Ollie set down her glass of water, I gave her a sheepish smile, not being able to take my eyes away from her. Eventually I pulled away, and started browsing the menu. Ollie did the same, and after a while, I put the menu down. "So, what are you going to get?" I asked, and she set hers down as well. "Well, I'm not sure, probably the shrimp scampy though?" She questioned, a little uncertain of herself. "Is that good?" She asked me and I nodded. "Yeah, I get that all the time. It's my favorite," I told her. "It's huge, they make about this much angle hair pasta," I spread out my arms to show her the huge amount, "And they made a rich and creamy tomato sauce that covers the buttered spaghetti. On top, the six pieces of buttered shrimp, and some basil." I looked down and took another piece of bread, putting some delectable butter on it. "Do you wanna share a plate? It's sort of huge." I smirked as she shook her head yes. A few moments later, a young male waiter came and took our order. As I told him what we wanted, I couldn't help but notice that as he was writing down his order, he kept glancing at Ollie. I felt my face redden, and as he finished, I handed him the menus. Before he left, I watched as he winked at Ollie. I couldn't help but feel disgusted, and just drank some of the refreshing cool water. "So... you and Jess, are you guys like... you know, together?" Ollie piped, a little embarrassed that she asked. I shrugged, and looked at the blank table cloth in front of me. I moved my hand under the table, and found Ollie's, taking hold of it. "No, were just friends really. Were not technically boyfriend and girlfriend or anything," I said, blushing a bit. About fifteen minutes later, the waiter came back with our plates. I said thank you, and so did Ollie. I let go of Ollie's hand for a few seconds so I could move the plate to the middle of the table, and take two forks so I could give Ollie a helping and myself a helping of the pasta. I gave us each a few shrimp each, and smiled. As I set the forks down, I took Ollie's hand in mine again, as we started eating.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}It seemed that Todd didn't want to talk about him and Jess. I knew that something was going on with them, from the way they'd acted at the beach, and from what Nick had said at school, about them making out in bushes. I knew he'd been meaning to be sarcastic, but... I pulled my hand back, and closed it around my glass so that Todd couldn't take it again. I took a sip, trying to look casual, and then laid my arm across my lap, so that my hand was out of Todd's reach. It wasn't that I didn't want to hold his hand, because part of me did; it was more of the fact that I had a feeling something was going on between Todd and Jess. I looked at Todd, and found that he looked hurt. I smiled, trying to act like I had no intention of moving my hand away on purpose, and carried on eating the pasta. The food was gorgeous, and it wasn't long before we'd finished the whole plate. 'You sure have a good appetite,' Todd said, chuckling slightly. He seemed nervous all of a sudden, but I put that down to the hand-holding fiasco. Smiling at him, I finished my water and dug into my bag for my phone. I had an annoying habit of randomly checking the time without even thinking about it. I caught Todd watching me and suddenly felt stupid, so I mumbled something about how my mom was supposed to text me to tell me what time she'd be home from work. He seemed to buy it, so I tucked my phone away and looked out at the bay again, resting my elbows on the table.

{name:Todd#|#picture:3}I was disappointed when Ollie pulled her hand away. She made it look casual, but there was no way to deny the fact that she didn't feel the same way. I then realized that I needed to be with Jess, and let Nick have Ollie. Moments later, the waiter came back with the check. As he handed it to me, I watched Ollie go for her wallet again. "Ollie, you don't need your wallet today," I told her, as I noticed the waiter leave. "Are you sure?" She asked, and I nodded, looking at the check. I pulled out a $100 dollar bill, and slid it in the book. The waiter came back soon enough, and took the book from me, going to the cash register. We had a few moments of silence as Ollie checked her phone, and I watched as the waiter brought me my change. As I opened the book, Ollie quickly grabbed the receit and gasped. "Todd! That's a lot of money! Why did you spend all of that?" She asked, referring to the meal, which had cost $80 dollars. "Cause," I mumbled, looking down as I pulled my walled out and shoved the $20 back. I blushed thinking about how I wanted to add 'I like treating the ones I care about to nice things,' but I kept quiet as I got up. Ollie did to, and walked in front of me, and down the stairs. After we got to the ground level, Ollie and I walked back to my car. "Lets go get sundaes." I told her, as I tipped the garage people, and got in my car. Ollie hopped in as well, and drove to Ghirardelli Square.
I had parked around the corner from the famous Square, and Ollie and I walked down the street, my hands shoved in my pockets. We then turned the corner and started climbing the three flights of stairs that took us to the ice cream/chocolate shop. I lead Ollie through the square and through the entrance to the store. It smelled so rich, that it almost made me melt. I looked over at Ollie, as we approached the counter, and stared at the menu that was above us. "I usually go for the hot fudge with brownie sundae." I leaned in to tell her, and smiled, as she stared at the board.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}Things felt awkward after that. Todd walked with his hands shoved into his pockets, and I walked with my hand clutching the strap of my bag. It was kinda like we'd silently decided not to have any physical contact with each other. It got easier when we got to the sundae place however. I tried to tell Todd I was too full, simply because I didn't want him to spend anymore money on me when I was perfectly capable of paying myself. He insisted that I had a sundae however, so I ordered the cheapest one on the menu, not caring what flavour it was. I think Todd noticed, but he didn't say anything.
Todd and I sat down at a little table outside the sundae place. It was the kind of table you'd expect to find in a little country garden, and it had a white umbrella to shade us from the hot sun. My sundae was a mixture of strawberry, vanilla and chocolate icecream, with a little wafer fan shaped like a heart, and a chocolate flake. It had to be the nicest sundae I'd ever eaten. 'Good?' Todd asked, breaking his own wafer heart in half. I nodded, and put down my spoon. 'We're not going to anymore places with food are we?' I asked, giggling a little. 'I'm stuffed.'

{name:Todd#|#picture:3}I smirked, and ate my wafer heart. It was amazing as usual, since it had some rich, dark chocolate on it. "I had to take you here though, it's one of my favorite places," I told her, a shy smile on my face. She smiled as well, and I dug into my sundae. It was so rich, so creamy... so beautiful. Sort of how Ollie's lips tasted in my dream. I downed my sundae, and smiled, as I noticed Ollie still eating her. "Is there anything you want to see in particular?" I asked as she finished hers off. "Um... nothing in particular." I nodded and gave her a smile. "We should go to the zoo, with your sisters. I think that would be fun. And we could take Tommy along." I told her, planning out our next outing together. I noticed that I was rambling on about that, so I shut my mouth, and sighed, looking down at the ground. I think it was time for my final stunt. Maybe this would give me some chance with Ollie, but who knew. Maybe only the man upstairs. "Let's go on my boat." I told her, as I got up, pulling her along with me. "Your what?!" She said startled as I took her hand, risking what seemed to be our friendship. "You have a boat? You're serious?" She said, a little shocked. "Yeah, it's my pride and joy," I told her as we rushed down the stairs and to the car. We sped off, heading towards the marina.
As we approached the marina, I parked the car, and got out, rounding the car so I could help Ollie out. I gave her my hand, but she wouldn't take it. "Come on Ollie," I told her pleadingly, and she sighed, giggling a little. I took her hand, not caring if she pulled away again. I lead her down the ramp, and to The Liv. I loved that boat, and was so happy with it. It was an amazing $120,00 dollar boat, and I took care of it every day. I helped her in, and then untied it, hopping in a few seconds later. I walked to the steering wheel and took it out of the marina, and out into the bay. A few minutes later, I started going around the bay, smirking as I looked behind me to see Ollie fascinated with the water. "Do you like it?" I asked, as I watched her move beside me.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}'Do I like it?' I breathed, unable to believe my eyes. 'I love it!' Todd's boat was amazing. It looked mega expensive, and so sparkly clean. You could tell Todd really treasured it, and spent alot of time doing whatever it is people do with boats, apart from drive them. The marina was amazing too, with all the other boats, and then the lake where Todd was driving The Liv. It was written on the side in navy blue script, the boat's name standing out against the brilliant white. It wasn't cold on the boat, but it sure was windy. Todd drove for a while, seeming proud and somewhat please that I liked his boat. The lake was huge, with trees surrounding it. A few other boats were sailing along, and some yatches too. Bending down, I took off my heels and put them to one side. I straightened up, removed the little clip that I'd used to pin back a piece of hair with and put it into my bag, which I placed next to my shoes. Todd looked over his shoulder at me, and smiled slightly. 'Could I drive it?' I asked, a little nervously. Todd grinned then, and stepped aside, but kept his hands on the wheel. 'Sure,' he said. 'Put your hands here.' He signalled where with his own, so I did as I was told and took the wheel. 'It's easy,' Todd told me. 'Can you drive a car?' I shook my head, and giggled slightly. 'Alright, I'll help you steer cause the wheel is a little tight.' Todd let go of the wheel and placed himself behind me, and put his hands over mine. I felt like a little kid then, helping her dad steer his boat, but what I didn't feel was uncomfortable. Not in the slightest. Todd steered for a while, but I soon felt his arms relax and found that I was steering the boat all by myself. I laughed then, and Todd laughed too, brushing the side of his face against my own.

{name:Todd#|#picture:3}I relaxed as I saw Ollie smile, knowing she could drive The Liv. As I let go, I brushed my cheek against hers, not believing that I finally felt her soft, silk like sing against mine. I sighed silently when I pulled away, not knowing what to say. I noticed us nearing another boat, and I quietly walked up behind her again, and rested my hands on hers. I smiled down at her, and she smiled up at me. "I just get nervous sometimes..." I told her, blushing a little bit. "This is like, my pride and joy. The only girl for me." I told her proudly as we went under the Golden Gate Bridge. "The only girl for you?" She squeaked, and I nodded. "No matter what I do, I can always come back to her. No matter how many times I mess up... she'll always be here." I told her, in a calm manner. "So not even Jess?" She asked, and I shook my head. "Oh," She added quietly, removing her hands away from mine on the steering wheel.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}I pulled away from Todd, knowing that I'd let my guard down far too much. I felt angry at myself, for doing so, but tried not to think about it too much. I went to the side of the boat and sat down on a bench type thing. I leant over, dipping my hand in the cool water as the boat sped along. I tried to imagine us being somewhere tropical, with dolphins swimming alongside us, but I couldn't make the magic work. Imaginative thinking and making things up was more Lia's thing. I thought about what Todd had said about going to the zoo, me, him and our siblings. I knew for a fact that my sisters would want to go, but Lia would be all over Todd like a disease. Not only did it bring embarrassment upon her, but it brought it upon me too, although I couldn't even begin to explain why. Having a prettier, younger sister was hard sometimes. But maybe going to the zoo would be a good idea. It would be good for Odie, as she'd get to see Todd's little brother Tommy, and spend time with a kid her own age. I could suggest inviting Nick, and maybe even Jess, so that Lia wouldn't be flirting with Todd all day. I sighed, finally deciding the zoo wasn't such a good idea afterall. I hadn't realised that Todd had stopped the boat until he came and sat down beside me and asked what I was thinking about. 'Oh, um... nothing,' I mumbled, blinking rapidly and pulling my arm out of the water. 'You looked pretty deep in thought,' Todd said, smiling slightly. 'Sometime I just stare off into space,' I told him, laughing nervously. I felt stupid then, and became afraid that Todd would laugh at me, but he didn't. He scooted closer to me and leant his arm on the side of the boat. I suddenly became aware of how alone we were. It was just Todd and I, on a boat, in the middle of a huge lake. We were so far out that the nearest boat looked like a jellybean. It was quiet too, almost silent. I could hear birds singing somewhere, perhaps from the trees since we were so close to them. Without knowing I was doing it, I went for my pocket but found that it was empty. I checked the other one, and found that it was empty too. 'Your cellphones in your bag,' Todd said quietly. 'What?' I asked. 'Your cellphone... you were just checking your pockets.' 'Oh, um... right. Yeah.' I blushed, feeling even more stupid than before. 'Has your mom still not texted you?' Todd asked. I wondered what he was talking about for a moment, before remembering what I'd told him at the bread factory. Getting up, I fetched my phone from my bag and went to sit down again. It was almost 2:30. 'Nope,' I sighed, tucking my phone into my pocket. I folded my arms then, and rested them on the side of the boat, gazing out around the lake. It was pretty warm out and I could feel myself starting to become uncomfortable under my silk top. 'So... how old is your sister?' Todd asked. 'Which one?' 'Lia.' I rolled my eyes. 'And why do you want to know?' 'No reason, I just...' 'She's 15,' I told him. He nodded. 'I was just wondering... she looks older.' 'Yeah,' I said bitterly. 'Don't you guys get along?' Todd asked, somewhat carefully, as though he were afraid I'd shout at him. I sighed. 'Well, we do but... she likes to think she's... something she's not. She tries to act older than she is.' Todd nodded again, and looked down at the water. 'I'm sorry for what happened on the beach by the way,' I said quietly. 'I should've apologised sooner, when you apologised to me, but... I never got the chance. Lia just... well, she's got a short fuse.' Todd smiled slightly then, and said it was alright. 'Tommy has been asking after Odie,' Todd said, the smile still there. 'He keeps asking me where she is.' 'We could take them to the zoo, like you said.' Todd looked at me. 'Really?' I paused, unable to believe I'd just said it. 'Um... yeah. Why not, it'll be fun.' 'Great!' Todd grinned. 'Tommy will be pleased.' 'Yeah, so will Odie...' Todd stared at me, looking like he was waiting for me to say something else. 'But maybe I won't invite Lia along,' I muttered.

{name:Todd#|#picture:3}"Oh," I muttered, not understanding why she wouldn't want her sister there. I felt an awkward pause, and I wasn't sure how to break it. I looked at my watch, and realized it was only the middle of the afternoon. "It doesn't have to be like this, you know," I told her softly, making sure she could see into my eyes. "What are you taking about?" She asked nervously, and I shrugged. I glanced up at her, to see that her eyes had met mine. "Awkward, like this You shouldn't be uncomfortable around friends. Because you're into Nick, and I'm into Jess. So everything should be fine," I told her with a small smile on my face. I watched as Ollie dropped her face to her lap for a second. She then raised it back up, and gave me a small smile.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}But things were awkward, more so after Todd said they didn't have to be. I checked the time at least 4 times in the next 5 minutes, so Todd got up and drove the boat back to the marina. It seemed he'd got the wrong impression, and thought I had to be somewhere. Todd helped me off the boat and I stood watching as he did what he had to do. Eventually he asked me if I wanted a ride home, so I simply nodded and we got into his car, neither of us saying a thing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I got home, Lia was in the kitchen. I went to the fridge to get a drink, dumping my bag on the kitchen island at which Lia was sitting. 'Have a good time?' she asked from behind me as I grabbed a glass from the cupboard. 'Yep,' I said through gritted teeth, feeling strangely angry at her for no apparent reason. Maybe it was because of how Todd had been interested to know how old she was, and the jealousy towards her that I always felt when she looked exceptionally nice. She was sitting there, wearing a white summer dress that came to just above her knee. She'd loosely curled her hair, and had a white flower tucked behind her ear. She had barely any makeup on at all, just a bit of mascara and some pale pink lipgloss. She looked beautiful. 'I'm going upstairs,' I said bitterly, taking my glass and filling it with chilled water from the fridge. I then breezed past Lia and snatched my bag from the table. 'I don't suppose you want to know who came round to see you then,' she said calmly. I stopped dead in my tracks. 'Who?' I asked, staring straight ahead. 'Nobody important. Just Nick.' I turned to her and found that she was wearing a devious smile. 'What did you tell him?' I asked slowly, narrowing my eyes. 'Oh, just that you were out with Todd.' She paused, and I tightened my grip on the glass in my hand. 'On a date,' she finished triumphantly. I wasn't sure whether to believe her at first, but then I realised that she wasn't messing around. Nick had been here to see me, and Lia had told him I was on a date with Todd. Lia started laughing then, stating that my expression was classic and that I looked like I'd just been slapped across the face. 'He seemed a little dissapointed if I'm honest,' she giggled. 'And angry too. He sure stormed off in a huff.' 'You're such a little brat Lia!' 'I know, I just thought you'd be used to it by now.' 'Oh shut up, you're pathetic. Why do you have to go and ruin everything Lia? You just can't keep away can you?' 'I don't know what you mean,' she snapped, sticking her nose in the air. 'Yes you do!' I cried, stepping towards the island. 'I can't have anything can I? Whether its a new pair of shoes or some interest from a guy, you just have to have exactly the same, and if you can't, then you have to mess it up for me, don't you?!' Lia said nothing. 'Don't you?!' I shouted, dropping my bag on the floor. Lia stood up then, and stood opposite me, a hand resting on the kitchen island. 'You're just jealous Olivia Richman,' she spat. 'Jealous? Jealous of what?' 'Me,' she said proudly. 'You're jealous because I got the best genes.' I laughed then, unable to believe what I was hearing. 'You're so spoilt Lia!' I cried. 'You don't realise how stupid you sound.' 'Don't call me stupid, stupid,' she snapped, starting to get angry. She looked me up and down, gave me a disgusted look and shoved me. I stumbled backwards, but managed not to fall. Lia laughed, and opened her mouth to speak. But I interupted her. 'You know what? I haven't got time for this.' Mustering up as much strength as I could, I aimed at the wall beside Lia's head and threw the class as hard as I could. She screamed and leapt out of the way, although she needn't have bothered. The glass hit the wall and smashed, thousands of shards scattering all over the counters and the tiled floor. 'And you can pick that up,' I said, picking up my bag and walking out of the kitchen, slamming the door behind me. I didn't care that I'd get into a load of trouble for that, nor did I care that I'd scared Lia. I didn't even care that she was crying.
{name:Todd#|#picture:3}I hadn't pulled off the street to go home yet, I felt like I should stay there. I wasn't sure why. I needed to do a lot of thinking. I had the music blasted in my car, making me not so concentrated. My head was rested on the steering wheel, my eyes closed, and my hands at ten and two. What had I done? I made everything horrible between Ollie and I, just because I held her hand a little. I wanted to leave, I wanted to go and see Jess, but I still had about six hours till that. I looked at the clock again. It was a bad habit. I needed to clean the house and stuff, and get ready for when Jess was to come over. I had to make everything perfect, everything clean. I had to make sure Tommy was in bed, and make pizza and everything else. I started up the engine, sighing as I left Ollie's house, and headed to my own. -------------
When I got home, I parked my car, and got out quickly. Champ was playing in the yard, so I scooped him up, and brought him in. "I'm home!" I called to my parents and Tommy as I started to get attacked by puppy kisses. "Tooooooodddddeyyy!" My little brother called from the livingroom, and I sighed, laughing a little. I set Champ down, and went in there, to see what he was doing. He was coloring on the rug in front of the TV, while watching SpongeBob. I knelt down beside him, and smiled softly. I saw that he was drawing two stick figures, and a heart. One was a boy, one was a girl. "Tommy, who is that?" I asked, I picked the picture up. "It's you and Jess," he giggled. I sighed, and smiled slightly, setting it on the ground. I then heard the soft clacking of high heels against hardwood floor as I saw my mother walk down the stairs. A few seconds later, my father followed, smiling at me. "So, you don't have a problem with us going out for tonight and tomorrow?" He asked, as he came and rested his hand on my shoulder. I shook my head no, and he smiled. "Good, good. You can have a friend or two over, order pizza.. rent movies. Just keep an eye on Tommy," He said happily, and I smiled. "Don't I always?" I laughed, as I saw my mom grab her purse, and started walking towards the door. My dad followed. "I love you sweeties!" She called as she exited the house, and I sighed as my dad called out too. Once I heard their car speed away, I relaxed on the couch, staring off into space. Time was flying by, and I didn't even notice how late it was getting. It was nearly nine, and Tommy was asleep on the floor. I scooped him up, and took him upstairs, resting him in his racecar bed. "Sweet dreams," I told him, before I shut his lights off, and went down the three flights of stairs. As I got downstairs, I picked up the house phone, and dialed Round Table Pizza. "Yeah, can I get a large light cheese and pineapple pizza?" I asked. "Yes, delivery." I told the guy in the phone, and quickly hung up. I ran to go and take another shower. By the time I had changed into a loose T-shirt and some shorts, I heard the doorbell ring. I quickly ran to get it, a huge smile on my face. As I opened the door, a girl, shorter than I with chocolate brown hair was standing before me. "Jess," I said happily, as I took her hand to bring her inside.
{name:Nick#|#picture:1}I'd probably seemed like a pest. I am a pest. But still.... I had to know if Ollie was back yet. If she wasn't, I'd probably blow another fuse. It was already past nine, how long did they plan to stay out for? Why would Todd do that to me? He already had Jess. Did he feel the need to take everything I had left from me? Apparently so. Relief flooded through me when I spotted Ollie sitting on the sidewalk as I 'casually' drove by her house. She didn't look exactly happy. Maybe something had went wrong on her date, which was unlikely. Todd was known to pamper women and give them everything they wanted and more. I would too, if I had the money. We all can't be rich like Todd. I rolled down the window and pulled up next to the sidewalk where Ollie was sitting. 'Everything all right?' I asked, looking down at her. She sighed and stood up until her face was level with mine. 'Not really.' 'Bad date?' I raised an eyebrow.
{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}I felt my stomach do a backflip when no other than Nick pulled up and asked if I was alright. 'Not really,' I mumbled, standing up so that I was at the same eye level as him. 'Bad date?' he asked, somewhat bitterly. 'Look, Nick...' I began. 'No, I get it,' he said, staring straight ahead, hands clutched tight on the steering wheel. 'Please, let me explain,' I said, almost pleading. 'Todd and I weren't on a date.' 'No?' I sighed, and walked around the other side of his car. Opening the door to the passenger seat, I climbed in and shut the door behind me. 'He was just showing me around the town,' I said. 'He took me to some bread factory, for an ice cream, and then out for a ride on his boat. It wasn't a date, and nothing happened between us.' Nick said nothing. 'I understand if you don't believe me,' I said quietly, staring down at my hands. 'I'm really sorry though... Lia told me you came over and... she told me that she told you I was on a date with Todd. Even she knew I wasn't... she made it up to spite me I guess.'
{name:Jess#|#picture:2}For some reason, I had made myself come around to Todd's again, despite what it had been like last time I'd bothered to come over. Maybe I was desperate, or maybe just plain stupid. I sighed, pushing my finger onto Todd's doorbell. He answered the door almost instantly and this time he was actually wearing more than a towel. 'Jess,' He said, smiling at me like he usually would. Maybe I'd just caught him at a inappropriate time earlier? I smiled back as Todd took my hand, pulling me into the warmth of his house. His house appeared to be empty; he must have been alone. 'Parents out?' I asked, peering into Todd's sitting room. He nodded in reply, before explaining that Tommy was fast asleep upstairs. I looked up the stairs then, as if trying to see Tommy's room. It was an impossible task, because Todd's house may have been the biggest house I had seen in my life. Apart from the ones that belonged to movie stars that they showed on MTV, but that hardly counted. Todd smiled again, before leading me into his living room. Again, it was big and much nicer than my own shabby living room. I sat down on the sofa, unable to find anything to say. I couldn't help but feel confused - mad even - about what had happened before. 'Did you have fun showing around that friend?' I asked, my voice taking a cold tone.
{name:Todd#|#picture:3}I sighed, looking down at my lap. Why was Jess being so cold? This wasn't the Jess I was used to... "It was fine, we went to Boudin and The Square and out on the boat." I told her, and she glared at me. I shrunk into the couch, not sure what to do. As I stared at Jess, she looked away, and I sighed. "Listen, I wanted you to come, I really did! But it might have been awkward if you came unannounced and stuff." I told her, giving her a small, soft smile. "Whatever Todd," She huffed, and pouted a little. I leaned into her, letting myself breath into her ear softly. "I promise to take you on the boat soon... I know how much you like that salty sea air," I smirked, as I kissed her head softly. When I pulled away, she gave me a tiny smile, which made mine grow about three sizes. All of a sudden, I heard the doorbell, and jumped to get it. I opened the door to the Pizza delivery man, and he told me I owed him twenty bucks. I pulled some cash out of my wallet, and paid the guy before closing the door with my foot. "I got your favorite," I told her, as I opened the box. I set it on the coffee table, and let her look at it. "Light cheese with pineapple," I stated proudly, happy that I remembered her favorite.
