{name:Nick#|#picture:1}'You don't have to apologize...' I sighed, staring out the window. 'It's not like we're a couple. It's none of my business who you date.' She was silent and stared at me blankly for a while. I silently prayed that a fight wouldn't start. Ollie wasn't going to have the same fate as Faye. I was going to make sure of that. 'Do you want to go somewhere?' I asked, fingering the wheel. 'It doesn't look like you want to go back insider..' 'I'd like that.' She smiled softly and clicked her seatbelt into place. 'Where to?' I asked, turning the key, causing the engine to turn on. 'Surprise me.' she muttered, staring out the window. I nodded and slowly pulled away from the curb. I knew exactly where I was going to take her.
After ten minutes of driving, I came to a halt in a small, unpaved parking lot. 'Welcome to my favorite place.' I muttered, cutting the engine. Ollie looked around the window, her eyes locking on the small dirt path that led inside of a forest. 'Are we going in there?' She squeaked, looking at me. 'That was plan. It's not that dark.' I mumbled, running a hand though my hair. She stared at me, biting down on her bottom lip. 'We don't have to if you don't want to.' I added. 'It's your call.'

{name:Jess#|#picture:2}I had to give it to him, Todd knew how to get around me. 'Wow, you remember my favourite!' I squealed, unable to keep my voice cold. Todd flashed me a proud smile. I pulled a slice of pizza out of its card board box and began to nibble on the end of it. 'Am I forgiven then?' Todd asked, still smiling. 'I guess,' I said, grinning back at him, unable to be mad any longer.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}My parents were going to have a fit once they knew I'd gone. I'd stormed out of the house and had sat on the sidewalk, and nobody had come after me, so I'd figured they'd seen where I was. I knew for a fact that if they'd seen me get into Nick's car, they would've yelled at me to get back inside. So they couldn't have seen me leave. My parents would freak out. And if I didn't get home soon, they'd probably call the police. It'd happened with Lia before, and she'd only been gone half an hour. I had no idea where I was, no idea what laid inside the woods, no idea what Nick was planning... I didn't even have my phone. But for some reason, I felt strangely safe, like I knew Nick wouldn't hurt me, or leave me out here on my own. I barely knew him, but I knew him well enough to know he wasn't like that. It was pretty dark, the only light being that from a couple of streetlamps, the car's headlights and the moon. And the stars, if those count. The digital clock on the car's radio read 9:29 and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Nick staring at me. 'I don't... I don't mind,' I said quietly. 'We can go in if you want.' He shrugged. 'S'up to you.' I knew that he hadn't forgiven me. He'd said we weren't a couple, and that I was free to date whoever I wanted, but to me it was different. I'd been on a date with Nick, and so my next date would be with Nick. Not Todd, not anyone. I didn't see it as a Nick and I are dating thing, but it was more of a polite, innocent loyalty towards him. I didn't want him to think I liked Todd, or preferred him to Nick. Because I didn't... right? I bit down on my bottom lip and glanced at Nick who was staring at the little dirt path that lead into the woods. 'What's in there?' I asked. 'Trees,' he said. I gave a short laugh then, and the corners of Nick's mouth curled into a slight smile. He looked down at his lap, his chocolate brown hair falling over his eyes. 'You don't believe me, do you.' I stated. Nick was silent. 'I understand,' I sighed, leaning back in the car seat. I stared up at the roof of the car, and closed my eyes. 'But just so you know, I wouldn't go on a date with you, and then go on one with someone else a few days later. I'm not like that.' Nick still said nothing, so after a few moments I opened my eyes and looked across at him, only to find he was still staring down at his lap. 'Nick?' I asked, leaning forwards and trying to see his face. 'Nick, are you alright?' He nodded, and looked out of his window. I hadn't managed to catch his expression. 'Where did you go last night?' he asked finally. His voice was quiet, and I didn't like his tone. He sounded angry, upset even... 'I went home,' I said truthfully. 'Did Todd drive you?' 'No, my mom picked me up,' I muttered. It was then that I started to wonder if Todd and Nick were really best friends, or rivals. Obviously there was a jealousy issue, or was that normal between guys? I sighed, and looked out of my window. In the reflection, I saw Nick turn to look at me, but I kept staring out of the window as suddenly, I had no clue of what to say to him.

{name:Nick#|#picture:1}An awkward silence formed between us so unbuckled and began to fiddle through a compartment until I found a small flashlight. 'So do you want to go in or not?' I asked, turning the flashlight on and shining it in her face. 'Yes.' She mumbled, holding her hands up infront of her eyes. I smirked and slid out of the car and walked over to Ollie's side of the car, where she was leaning against it patiently. Deciding that I was going to forgive Ollie, I took a hold of her hand and led her towards the trail. It wasn't really her fault that she went out with Todd today. He shouldn't even had asked in the first place. He had Jess and if she knew that he was with Ollie today, wouldn't have took it as lightly as I did. I led Ollie through the winding trail, pushing branches and bushes out of the way with my free hand until we came to a small clearing. I let go of Ollie's hand and walked to the middle of the clearing and sank down to the ground. Ollie stood at the edge of the trees and I motioned for her to sit next to me. 'Nothings to bite you.' I smiled. 'I've been here at night plenty of times before and I've yet to be attacked.' Ollie smiled softly as sat down next to me. 'Do you come here often?' 'Yeah.' Almost every night since Faye died. But I didn't tell her that part.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}It was creepy in the woods. I wasn't one for woods during the day, let alone night, so I tried desperately to mask my fear. I didn't want Nick to think I was chicken, as pathetic as it sounds. 'Do you come here often?' I asked, trying to make conversation. Maybe talking would take away the feeling that someone was behind me, about to wedge an axe into the back of my head. 'Yeah,' Nick said quietly. And then he lowered his head. Some conversation that'd been. I couldn't find anything to say to him, no matter how hard I tried to think of something witty or interesting or funny. The only thing I could think to say was something that involved Todd, and the fact that I hadn't been out on a date with him, but I decided not to mention it again. At least, not until Nick did.

{name:Nick#|#picture:1}An awkward silence formed between the two of us and the only thing that could be heard was the sound of crickets chirping and the leaves rustling in the light breeze. Ollie was fiddling with her hands nervously and you could tell she wanted to say something, but didn't want to bring it up. It was probably about the whole business with Todd. I decided to step up to the plate to start making a conversation because it looked like she was out of things to say. But I wasn't going to talk about Todd. That was the last thing I wanted to talk about. 'So... how do you like it in SanFranciso so far?' I asked, breaking the silence between us. 'It's nice. Extremely different from New York though.' she mumbled, looking up at the sum-what stary sky. 'Is that a good different or a bad different?' I smiled slightly, tilting my head to get a better look at her face. 'I'll tell you when I decide.' She responded, her hair falling across her face. Smiling to myself, I layed back on the grass and stared at the sky. In a few moments, Ollie was laying on the wet grass next to me. Not sure how she would react, I snaked my arm around her shoulders cautiously, waiting for her to pull away.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}Nick suddenly flopped backwards, landing with a soft thud on the grass behind us. At first I thought he'd passed out, but when I turned and looked down at him, found that he was gazing up at what could be seen of the starry sky. I decided to join him, and carefully laid down beside him. You couldn't see the sky that well, because of all the trees, but I could see a few stars. To my great suprise, Nick put his arm around my shoulders and I felt a chill go down my spine. It wasn't a bad thing though, and it certainly didn't feel uncomfortable. I stayed still for a moment, before turning my head to look at him. He was watching me, his expression unreadable. He looked deep in thought, mesmerized even, and his lips were slightly parted, the corners of his mouth forming the perfect smile. I'd barely known him for a week, and yet I had a mad urge to just... well, kiss him. He laughed nervously then, and I realised that we'd been staring at each other. 'Do you... have a... boyfriend?' Nick asked slowly, looking across at the trees and then down at the ground. I smiled slightly. 'Nope, I'm pretty much single.' Nick looked at me, and smiled back. 'Do you have a girlfriend?' I asked. Nick's smile faded in an instant and his expression became hard and cold. I felt confused, so sat up a little, Nick's arm falling from around my shoulders. 'Nick?' I asked quietly, trying to see his face, but all he did was look away from me. 'What... Nick? I don't understand...' 'I haven't...' He paused. 'You haven't got a girlfriend?' Nick slowly shook his head, and rolled over to face me. I rolled over too, onto my stomach, and propped myself up on my elbows. I decided not to ask him why he'd turned funny, and to instead say nothing.

{name:Nick#|#picture:1}It had caught me off guard when Ollie asked me whether I had a girlfriend or not. Did I? Technically Faye and I had never broken up, but her death had kind of ... canceled everything out. So I went with a no. We sat there in silence, the moon casting shadows everywhere. It reflected off Ollie's hair, causing a small glow to emit around her. She looked truly beautiful and I had the strong urge to grab ahold of her and kiss her soft, plump lips. But I wasn't ready for that, not yet atleast. 'So does that offer to go on a date again still stand?' She suddenly asked, turning to look at me. 'Only if you want it to.' I smiled crookidly. 'Good.' She mumbled, her cheeks flaring red. 'This could count as the other date if you want it to.' I crained my neck to get a better look at her face. She nodded and tore a small handful of grass out the ground, flinging it in my face. 'Hey!' I laughed, brushing the grass off myself. Ollie grinned and reached a hand towards the grass to grab another handfull of it, but I quickly snatched her hand and held it in mine.

{name:Ollie#|#picture:0}I stared down at our hands for a moment, before looking up at Nick. The moon was casting shadows across his face, illuminating his features and making him look incredibly handsome. I could feel my cheeks burning, but tried to ignore it and instead reached up, and pulled a piece of grass out of Nick's hair. Nick's eyes were fixed on mine and my hand lingered for a moment, before somehow placing itself on the side of Nick's face. He lowered his gaze and, after a few seconds, closed his hand over my own and lowered it from his face. He now had hold of both my hands, and it only took a gentle tug for me to collapse against him. Nick wrapped his arms around my shoulders and held me tight, almost as though he were scared of letting go. I allowed him to hug me and we stayed like that for a while, neither of us uttering a word. I closed my eyes and tried to imagine that we were sitting on the beach, watching the sun go down, as that happened to be my definition of romantic, but somehow I couldn't picture it. The dark wooded clearing suddenly seemed perfect.
